Uruk-Hai, in the context of Middle-earth lore, refers to a powerful breed of Orcs.

They first appear prominently in *The Lord of the Rings*. Bred by Sauron, the Uruk-Hai are larger, stronger, and more resilient than common Orcs.

They are distinguished by their black skin and tolerance of sunlight, allowing them to operate effectively during the day. Saruman also bred Uruk-Hai, distinguished by the White Hand insignia. Their purpose was to serve as formidable soldiers in Sauron and Saruman's armies, a stark contrast to the more cowardly and undisciplined common Orcs.
